A New Vision for Northern Arizona Jazz Dr. William “Doc” Jones, Frank Aazami, and Bob Sahd recently met with the Mayor of Sedona and her leadership team to share an exciting vision for the future of jazz in Northern Arizona. The vision is to create a Northern Arizona Jazz Tour during Jazz Appreciation Month, connecting communities through music, arts, culture, education, and tourism. The cornerstone of this initiative is the revival of the beloved Sedona Jazz Festival (Jazz on the Rocks)—an event that once attracted visitors, artists, and jazz enthusiasts from across the nation. Together, we explored how a renewed Sedona Jazz Festival could become part of a regional cultural experience that includes communities such as Prescott, Flagstaff, and Scottsdale, creating new opportunities for tourism, education, local businesses, and the arts. This meeting represents an exciting first step toward bringing live jazz back to one of Arizona’s most beautiful destinations.
