Salsa Is in My Soul – And Now It Runs in the Family
Salsa dancing isn’t just something I enjoy — I’m actually pretty good at it.
Back in the 1990s, while performing with a Latin band, I started learning how to
dance salsa. I was hooked. The rhythm, the movement, the connection — it felt like
an extension of the music I was playing on stage. And the more I danced, the better
I got. Salsa became a way for me to express joy, even off the bandstand.
Now, years later, something beautiful has happened: my daughter has become an
incredible salsa dancer herself. Watching her dance reminds me of why I fell in love
with it in the first place. Even better, she’s now my favorite dance partner — and let
me tell you, we light up the floor whenever we dance together.
It’s amazing to see how music and movement travel through generations. In Cuba,
I hope to bring that same joy to every dance floor I step on — because when the
music hits, I can’t sit still.
