As my pilgrimage to Cuba comes to an end, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey that unfolded, largely thanks to my Grammy-winning friend, Arturo O’Farrill. His connection opened doors I never thought possible, leading me to a successful trip filled with unforgettable experiences.
During my stay at one of the best hotels in Havana, I had the privilege of meeting some truly remarkable musicians who embody the spirit and rhythm of this vibrant country. Cuba is not what you think it is; it’s a rich tapestry of culture, history, and passion that defies stereotypes. From lively street performances to intimate jam sessions in local venues, I was introduced to the real Cuba—an experience that transcends mere tourism.
This country offers more than just picturesque landscapes; it invites you into its heart through music and art. The warmth of its people and their unwavering love for their heritage left an indelible mark on me. As I bid farewell to this enchanting island, I carry with me not just memories but a deeper understanding of what makes Cuba so unique. If you ever have the chance to explore this gem for yourself, seize it—you won’t regret it.
